Room 109, David Goldman Informatics Centre, St Peter's campus, Sunderland University Learn Explore Debate – Supporting Families in the Foundation Years  Following a successful series of Learn, Explore, Debate events in the Autumn, Children England and 4 Children are offering more opportunities to join one of our most well-reviewed FREE events.

You will have a ‘one stop shop’ opportunity to find out more about the Department for Education’s recent policy reforms and developments for Early Years, including the EYFS framework, the Nutbrown Review, the Early Education/Code of Practice consultation, Payment by Results for Children’s Centres, and the ‘Big Society’ vision of an increased role for parents, communities and VCS organisations in shaping and delivering public services. As well as offering useful information on sector reforms and policy developments, the events are designed to create the space to explore their timescales and potential impact in practice, and for all participants to debate and offer feedback that can inform both local and national Government plans.

Your Workforce: Their Future  This seminar will be chaired by a high profile member of the voluntary, community and social enterprise sector (VCSE), and will include a keynote speech by Jane Haywood, Chief Executive of CWDC, and workshops co-facilitated by VCSE and CWDC staff that will focus on key areas identified as current priorities within the sector:

Integrated working: the experience and engagement of the sector in integrated delivery, processes and governance.

Leadership and management issues within the sector, including access to development opportunities.

Higher level skills: social work, intensive family support, and the demands of the increased role the sector is playing in delivery of targeted interventions.
