Slough | Vetting and Barring Scheme Regional Event - Briefing for the Voluntary and Community Sector | Children England and the National Council for Voluntary Youth Services (NCVYS) are jointly delivering a series of regional events to brief the voluntary and community sector on the new Vetting and Barring Scheme. The Speaking Out project (a joint initiative between Children England and the National Council for Voluntary Youth Services) is holding a policy roundtable event on young people's access to education, employment and training opportunities. The event is organised in partnership with the Local Government Association (LGA) and discussions will be held around the challenges facing children and young people in today's difficult economic climate. With the latest figures suggesting youth unemployment could be as high as one million and the serious long-term effects to youth unemployment, there is an urgent need to find solutions.
