Driving Our Own Improvement -
A New Peer Review Scheme For The children, young people and families Voluntary and Community Sector

Children England is seeking organisations who wish to be reviewed and senior staff, trustees and relevant public service officers or members who wish to be considered as peers.

Children England is developing an exciting approach to improving organisations and services within the Children, Young People and Families’ Voluntary Sector through a process of Peer Review, supported by the Department for Education

A Peer Review will typically last for two days and an organisation will be reviewed on key aspects of its work by a team of trained ‘peers’, drawn from other similar organisations. The process will highlight strengths, achievements and areas in need of further improvement. Quite simply, ‘critical friends’ will support your improvement journey.

The fully funded pilot stage will run from February 2012 for two months and we are seeking organisations who wish to be reviewed and senior staff, trustees and relevant public service officers or members who wish to be considered as peers.

Six organisations in total can receive a pilot review, three from the north of the country and three from London and the South. Organisations must be committed to fully participating in the process and providing feedback on the materials used.

We need a team of about twenty reviewers to attend one of the two day training sessions which are being held in three locations around the country:

London 22nd - 23rd February 2012
Barnsley 29th - 1st March 2012
Coventry 7th - 8th March 2012

The review will require some pre-reading and attendance on site for two days. Some peers will volunteer to undertake follow up work with the organisation they have reviewed after six months

During the pilot period peer reviewers and organisations wishing to undertake a review will receive a small financial bursary plus all expenses will be met.

This programme offers an exciting improvement opportunity for groups and peer reviewers who will benefit from an exceptional personal development opportunity.
