VCS Engage Regional Development Plan North West Region 2009/10
Overall aim of the programme:
To improve the strategic engagement of the Children, Young People and Families (CYPF) VCFS in the ECM Agenda in the North West
Specific aims
- To increase the strategic leadership and capacity within the VCFS regionally and locally
- To increase the influence of C&YP VCFS on local and regional policies and processes
- To improve the quality and range of CYPF VCS services locally and regionally
Within the North West, these specific aims will be achieved by delivering activity against the following key priorities.
Key priorities for the North West 2009/2010 Identified at Strategic Engagement Residential 12th 13th March 2009 and agreed by VSC Engage NW Steering Group March 09:
- 1. Quality Representation and Delivery
- 2. Partnership Working and Collaboration
- 3. Workforce Development
- 4. Commissioning
- 5. Evidencing outcomes
- 6. Safeguarding
In addition issues relating to engagement of the BME sector will be addressed as a cross cutting theme
VCS Engage Steering group terms of reference
- 1. To provide a reference point for the work programme for the GONW lead and the Regional Co-ordinator for VCS Engage programme.
- 2. To use own networks and influence to work collaboratively to ensure maximum impact is achieved in respect of intended outcomes
- 3. To support the VCS Engage Regional Co-ordinator and GONW Lead in the delivery of the outputs for the two programmes.
- 4. To share information on any pertinent issues/developments to progress work and join up with other relevant initiatives.
- 5. To ensure financial probity and that spend is in line with the requirements of the contracts.
- 6. To maximise the benefits for both programmes through collaborative working.

- Regional safeguarding support in partnership with 3rd Sector Safeguarding unit
- Peer Support for voluntary sector strategic leads
- Targeted support at identified Children's Trust areas
