Resources:

The London regional group meeting held on the 20th April 2009 included a valuable seminar by the New Economics Foundation on a programme of their work called Social Return on Investment. The work highlights how the voluntary sector often finds it difficult to measure the impact they make and the value they add through conventional economic and financial measures which do not capture the social and environmental benefits of projects and programmes they run. The Social Return on Investment (SROI) programme aims to capture these benefits and to show funders the value of their work in a language that they can understand. Micheal Weatherhead from the NEF's consultancy wing delivered a presentation on this work which can be accessed below. In addition, the NEF publication, Measuring real value: A guide to Social Return on Investment offers a step by step guide for organisations on how to undertake capturing the difference they make through the SROI model.
