North West Regional Group
Children England’s North West Regional Group meets quarterly, in the months of March, June, September and December. The meetings are normally scheduled for the first Monday afternoon of these months – although this is not always possible. The venues for the meetings currently alternate between Action for Children regional office Warrington, and the Seashell Trust in Cheadle Hulme.
Children England's North West regional group has a strong core membership, with a wide range of organisations involved. Emphasis is currently focused on increasing the number of smaller organisations involved in the group. This will make the group more representative of the region and also further increase the amount of information exchanged. Part of the meetings are used for information is sharing via presentations and group discussion. Issues previously discussed include ContactPoint, workforce development, consortia working arrangements, and Big Society. We have hosted successful events relating to commissioning and partnership working. Some more recent events have focussed on Safeguarding in relation to the Vetting and Barring Scheme, Early Intervention for Families with Multiple Problems, and Big Society Commissioning.
If you are interested in becoming a member of the NW group, contact Jon Reese jon.reese@actionforchildren.org.uk who will be happy to send you information.

The North West group works in partnership with Children & Young People North West. This is a new group which fills the gap left by the VCS Engage programme.
It works closely with Voluntary Sector NW, the NW Regional Youth Work Unit, and the BME group ‘One North West’ among others.
The strategic objectives are:
1. Developing, supporting and engaging with networks
2. Pro-actively establishing and enhancing dialogue with geographic and thematic support providers
3. Gathering and making use of information and knowledge relating to and for the sector
4. Increasing recognition as a reliable voice of the sector
