A South West approach to the third sector delivery of children and young people and families services
Children England through its VCS Engage project aims to provide support facing the Voluntary and Community Sector (VCS) delivering children and young people's services across the South West. The project employs one Regional Development Manager (RDM) Kerstin Neason kneason@btinternet.com whose post is supported by the Regional Youth Work Unit in Taunton. The project is led by a steering group of VCSO managers under the chairmanship of Jon Brown Operational Director of Childrens Services for Action for Children.
The South West is an enormous geographic area and the 16 local authority areas provide a full range of challenges and opportunities for the VCS Engage project, last year we spent some time identifying local priorities and developed an action plan in consultation with the sector. This project aims to:
- To improve the strategic working and infrastructure arrangements within the CYP&F VCS
- To influence regional and local policy
- To improve the voice of the CYP&F VCS
- To improve the quality leadership and capacity of the CYP&F VCS
Through a series of projects:
- Building Effective infrastructure partnerships
- Developing quality and building capacity - utilising the improvement support offer
- Personalisation - Supporting the Extended School Disadvantage Subsidy
- Developing a North East Commissioners Forum
- Big Network
- Steering Group and Strategic representation
- Improving representation
- JISP
- Cornwall bespoke support offer
- Torbay bespoke support offer
- Parenting in the VCS
- Workforce
