Royal Institute of British Architects, Lutyens Room, 66 Portland Place, London  Understanding and Reducing Family Conflict  A recent report about family conflict by 4Children found that the evidence suggests that violence is more widespread within the family than was previously thought: for example, adolescent on parent violence is a growing problem. A survey carried out by YouGov on behalf of 4Children reveals that as many as close to 53% of parents with dependent children experience serious or frequent conflict. This event will look at the impact of family conflict, focussing on the effect of couple conflict on the child and abuse towards a parent by a teenage child.

Wellcome Collection Conference Centre, 183 Euston Road, London Families First A rich mix of presentations through the day will enable practitioners to learn and consider their own working practice. These will include sessions on supporting children and heuristic play with under 5s. The impact of losing a child on adult couples will be discussed as well as the impact for adults as parents and for their surviving children. Practitioners are often confronted by ethical dilemmas: a range of these will be considered - alongside the need for effective support and supervision for practitioners in the field.
Alongside the formal sessions there will be opportunities for attendees to meet and mix with each other.
