Workforce Development Funding
and Grants

About Funding

Funding guides

One of the biggest barriers facing VCS staff and volunteers is accessing funding to support training and other areas of workforce development. In response to this, NCVYS and NAVCA have created the Funding Guide to Workforce Development for the children, young people and families' VCS.  The Funding Update provides details of scheme changes or new funding streams since the production of the Funding Guide.  Download the Funding Guide Update January 2010.

For more information and case studies from NCVYS you can visit their website here.

NAVCA provides the following information and resources on funding:

CWDC also provide other opportunities on funding; this can include guidance or access to funding for specified professional groups.  Check out their website for further details here

CWDC's Participation Fund is designed to encourage and enhance the participation of children, young people and their families in local workforce development and reform.

How to submit a successful tender?

Children England provide a informative guide to understanding contracting called ‘Love Your Tender'

This 64-page, full-colour guide with information, activities, signposts and foldout resources that aims to:

  • explain about a typical contracting process;
  • help organisations decide if they are 'tender ready';
  • signpost to additional resources;
  • guide through aspects of contracting that are especially tricky or need special consideration; and
  • offer helpful tips, exercises and checklists.

Love your tender briefly addresses the procurement process and some of the issues surrounding it, such as the difference between grants and contracts and the role of trustees. The most comprehensive section supports organisations to be ready to tender, drawing attention to issues such as building collaborative relationships and demonstrating added value. The rest of the guide deals with things to keep in mind when preparing a tender and includes a checklist and a wide range of useful information. You can download Love Your Tender here

The Department for Children Schools & Families also provide a valuable section on information on Public Procurement , Bidding for Business , and Procurement and Innovation

Where to find information about the latest tenders?

Latest tendering opportunities can be found at the CWDC website here.
