A Picture Worth Millions - State of the Young People's Workforce

There are an estimated six million workers supporting young people in England, according to a new report for the Children's Workforce Development Council. 'A Picture Worth Millions: the state of the young people's workforce' finds more than 775,000 people work in paid employment with young people, with more than 5,272,000 volunteers.

Building a Safe, Confident Future - The Final Report of the Social Work Task Force

In this final report, the Task Force is setting out 15 recommendations for improving and reforming social work. These recommendations were developed from the building blocks for reform first set out in the interim report. The recommendations are intended to support a continuing single profession. They are designed to enable social workers to benefit from high quality education and training in responding to both the needs of children and adults, but also to develop specialist skills early in and over the full course of their careers. Common Core Refreshed to Meet the Needs of Today's Workforce

The Children's Workforce Development Council (CWDC) has launched a refresh of the common core of skills and knowledge that everyone working with children, young people and families should have. Following wide consultation with children and young people and those who work with them, the common core has recently been refreshed to meet the needs of today's workforce.

National Youth Homelessness Scheme

Children England has published a website module for the Department for Communities and Local Government's National Youth Homelessness Scheme website. The module looks at the range of work carried out by voluntary sector organisations to prevent children and families becoming homeless. The module also provides case studies of organisations working on the following themes:

  • Education and information provision for children to help prevent homelessness;
  • Support and services for children and families in temporary accommodation;
  • Services aimed at supporting children and families with complex needs who are at risk of homelessness; and
  • Support and preventative work for young runaways

Training Needs Analysis Survey - Prize Draw Winner

VCS Sharing Practice

In 2010/11 CWDC funded a project to identify and share good practice in the voluntary and community sector in a number of areas. The project was led by NCVYS on behalf of a consortium of voluntary sector organisations. The learning was shared through visits and also written examples.
