Introduction

Children England is the leading membership organisation for the children, young people and families/carer's voluntary sector. With member organisations working in all parts of the country ranging from small local groups to the largest household names in children's charities, Children England is in a unique position to use the collective voice of the voluntary sector to achieve positive change for children.  Children England provides capacity building, support and information to its members and the wide range of voluntary sector organisations working with children, young people and families/carer's. It does this by building active networks, promoting good practice, stimulating policy debate and ensuring that the issues that matter most to its members are taken up with decision makers.

Our partners

With funding provided from CWDC we work in consortium with the following organisations:

NAVCA

NAVCA (the National Association for Voluntary and Community Action) is the national voice of local Third Sector infrastructure in England. NAVCA's  members work with 164,000 local Third Sector groups and organisations that provide community services, regenerate neighbourhoods, promote volunteering and tackle discrimination in partnership with local public bodies.
NCVYS
NCVYS's vision is of a society where young people are valued for their contribution and supported by their communities. Established in 1936, NCVYS is the leading representative body for voluntary and community youth organisations working with young people in England. NCVYS works through its membership network of voluntary and community organisations and social enterprises to achieve this vision. We believe that youth organisations have a key role to play in bringing adults and young people together as partners in communities to ensure that young people have every chance to develop their full potential. As a membership network of over 170 networks and organisations covering every community in England, NCVYS is uniquely placed to champion and support this partnership.

REF
The Race Equality Foundation (REF) promotes race equality in social support (what families and friends do for each other) and social care (what 'workers' do for people who need support).

  • REF do this by exploring what is known about discrimination and disadvantage.
  • REF develop interventions that will overcome barriers and promote equality.
  • REF disseminate good practice through training, conferences and written material.
  • REF's consortium will bring significant added value to the work, through the breadth and depth of our experience with the sector and through our organisational infrastructures and wider networks. We reach all local infrastructure bodies working with children and young people's groups at local level.
  • REF have extensive regional networks involving national organisations and children's trust representatives. We also have excellent relationships with other agencies contributing to workforce reform, such as Directors of Children and Learners and their teams in GOR's, Together 4 Children, the TDA, DCSF Commissioning support programme and the RIEP's All of these have sought our help in engaging the third sector in their work.
