Hi readers ðŸ˜Š

I hope you've all had a lovely week, I certainly enjoyed the end of mine as I was in sunny Spain celebrating the amazing woman I get to call my best friend and her upcoming wedding. She really does inspire me and had the loveliest friends too. I enjoyed going into International Women's Day (#IWD) with this great girl gang: so much so, that I decided to dedicate this edition to #IWD too.

So, without further ado, this week's edition celebrates women to help you start your week as you mean to go on, ready to kick the world’s butt:

Something to go to: Phenomenal Women: Portraits of Black Female Professors is a free exhibition featuring 40 professors across a broad range of subjects including law, medicine, creative writing and sociology. It's said to be the first photographic exhibition honouring Britain’s black female professors. Considering fewer than 1% of professors in the UK are black and black women represent the smallest group when both race and gender are considered together, this exhibition is a must-see. It's only on for a short period of time at City Hall, London (18th March - 31st March), but it's free!

Something to go awwwh at: Young children and political education don't often seem to go hand in hand, but Dr Penny highlighted children at Barnes Primary enjoying learning about Lady Hale during her talk combining #IWD and World Book Day! She said that even when a picture of Disney World was shown, the children were still interested in Lady Hale!

Something to read: A great thread by Waverley Care has compiled a list of of 13 organisations making Scotland a better place for women and girls, and some of their key work. I particularly enjoyed the blog from Gender Equal Media Scotland, discussing the way women of colour commentators are represented in the media sector.

That’s it from me, I hope you enjoyed this week’s edition of #makethemostofmonday. If you feel you’re doing something super positive that should be included in next week's edition, drop us a line at [email protected]. I hope you have a lovely rest of your week and this has inspired you to not only keep going until Friday, but to give it your best possible shot 😊
