Happy Monday Readers ๐Ÿ˜Š

If you weren’t blown away by the wind these past couple of days, prepare to be blown away now (I’m SO cheesy I know I can’t help it). Today I visited the wonderful city of Sheffield to meet the Sounding Board group for the ChildFair State Inquiry (Exciting things coming, watch this space!). So these individuals are amazing in their own right, children’s rights campaigners, refugee lawyers and radical council workers to name a few. Given the expertise in the room, I thought I’d ask them what positive news they had heard recently and this is what they came up with….

So, without further ado, here is your small burst and weekly roundup of positive news to start your week as you mean to go on, ready to kick the world’s butt:

Something to watch: Polly Neate, CEO of Shelter, noticed an inspirational short video from Locality highlighting the power of community. Here’s my favourite line - you’ve got to trust the people that they will; with the right support, the right time and the right commitment, they will find the right solution for them.

Something to put into practice: Carolyne Willow, Director of Article 39, told us about a lovely story that had literally just happened. She met someone on the train up to Sheffield today catching each others eye over her notes and started chatting. They spoke about structural inequality but more importantly, ended on the note that it’s the campaigners that often sway the hand of decision makers to bring about radical change. She came to the meeting feeling very inspired. So much so, she reminded us that most social change comes from anger, but that's NEEDED! So, I urge anyone that reads this, spark a conversation with a stranger, you never know what conversations you may have.

Something to go to: Baljeet Sandhu, human rights lawyer, highlights the Women of the World Conference which brings together world-class speakers, activists and performers to explore the state of gender equality across the globe and tackle the subjects that matter most to women and girls across the world today. And best of all, it’s free! Sign up now.

That’s it from me, I hope you enjoyed this week’s edition of #makethemostofmonday. If you did, please share it using the hashtag above!
